Hundreds will hit the pavement walking in this year’s Parkinson’s WA Unity Walk 2013.

Take part in your choice of a 2km or 4km walk to raise money to help people with Parkinson’s and their family carers/partners.

“Every hour of every day someone is diagnosed with Parkinson’s in Australia, and there is currently no known cause, prevention or cure,” says Lucy Reader, Parkinson’s WA community engagement and marketing coordinator.

“This is our fourth Parkinson’s WA Unity Walk and it will be bigger and better than ever, with Mix 94.5’s Shane McFarlane our event ambassador/Emcee, local personal trainer Nick Milnes leading the warm-up, and our very own ‘Parkinsong’ choir singing on the day.”

With the help of community members and Perth businesses, Parkinson’s WA aims to raise $100,000 to help people living with Parkinson’s in the state.

Not up to the walk? Ask someone to walk on your behalf, or sponsor another walker.

Register before 23 August, 4pm (WST), to also be in the running to win a $200 voucher for the Running Centre.

Unity Walks will be held in NSW, ACT and VIC on 25 August 2013. Scheduled walks for QLD, SA and WA are set for 8 September 2013.

Visit www.parkinsonswa.org.au/unitywalk to register and fundraise. Alternatively, phone Parkinson’s WA on (08) 9346 7373 for a hardcopy of the registration form.
