More than 30,000 women living in rural and remote South Australia will benefit from the free breast screening provided by two brand new replacement mobile screening units unveiled by Health Minister, John Hill.
BreastScreen SA’s statistics show that women living in country South Australia have a better screening participation rate than those women living in the city.
BreastScreen SA general manager, Lou Williamson, said the mobile units make equal access to free, high quality breast cancer screening possible for women living in rural areas.
Free screening is primarily recommended for women aged 50 to 69 without breast symptoms and a doctor’s referral is not required; just call 13 20 50 for an appointment.
