The path ahead in diversional therapy

Posted
by DPS

The best practices in diversional therapy will be showcased at Diversional Therapy Australia’s (DTA) national conference held at Carlton, Victoria, this Friday (20 May) and Saturday (21 May).

Diversional therapy (DT) is a client centred practice and recognises that leisure and recreational experiences are the right of all individuals.

DT practitioners work with people of all ages and abilities to design and facilitate leisure and recreation programmes. Activities are designed to support, challenge and enhance the psychological, spiritual, social, emotional and physical well-being of individuals.

The theme of this year’s conference is ‘the path ahead: engaging professionals, clients and communities’, and reflects the dynamic nature of DT.

Presentations and posters will highlight future perspectives of DT practice, resource development, interagency partnerships, the promotion of DT programmes and services to the wider community, and a trade exhibition.

This educational, networking event is open to all diversional and recreation therapists, DT assistants, academics, researchers, students and anyone else interested in DT.

Conference times:

Friday (20 May) – 8am registration, 9am start, 4.45pm close, 6.30pm to 9.30pm conference dinner, DTA launch event and awards.

Saturday (21 May) – 9am start, 3.15pm close.

For more information, contact DTA on (02) 9887 5035 or 1300 113 395 (toll free).
