The older you are the easier it is to make a fashion statement
Noted fashion advisor and columnist, British author, and honorary Australian, Maggie Alderson, urges older women to make a bold fashion statement as they age.
In a tongue in cheek piece in Fairfax weekend media, she urges women to ‘not go gently into that good night’, and that ‘the older you get, the more you can carry off (and the more you need to wear) crazy statement accessories.”
“Bolder is better, the older you get,” she decreed.
“The trick is to keep the actual clothes simple (and comfy), so the accessories burst forth, distracting attention from the droopy bits of your anatomy and highlighting your undimmed charisma.
“This technique is guaranteed to make people say things like “isn’t she faaabulous?”
Ms Alderson has even coined a term for it: Foldie- for Fabulous Oldie.
She advises would be foldies to go to the Advanced Style blog which shows photographs of stylish people- all over the age of 65!
