The experience of e-mental health resources

Nurses or allied health practitioners working in primary care are invited to take part in a survey which evaluates their views and experience of online mental health resources.

As part of the federal government initiative titled e-Mental Health in Practice (eMHPrac), clinical researchers at the Australian National University (ANU) are seeking to understand Australian primary care allied health workers’ and nurses’ awareness and use of online mental health services.

This survey is the first instalment, with two more being conducted next year and in 2016.

Those invited to participate include: primary care allied health workers and nurses including psychologists, social workers, practice nurses, mental health nurses, counsellors, occupational therapists, community health workers, peer support and other allied health workers.

Researchers are also interested in understanding how allied health workers’ and nurses' views change over time.  At the end of the survey, participants have the opportunity to register their email address to receive invitations to participate in the 2015 and 2016 surveys.

All information provided will be kept confidential and stored under strict security. It will only be accessible to researchers working directly on the study. If you choose to provide an e-mail address it will be stored separately from your survey responses.

Paper copies of surveys will be stored in a locked filing cabinet at Centre for Mental Health Research (CMHR) for a minimum of five years, and will be destroyed by secure shredding after that period.

Data collected through online surveys will be securely stored on ANU servers or other storage systems approved by the ANU for a minimum of five years with access restricted to authorised personnel. Data will be deleted after the minimum storage period.

If you have any questions about the study, contact Julia Reynolds, clinical psychologist, e-hub clinical services manager at CMHR, Australian National University, emhprac@anu.edu.au or (02) 6125 7275, or Professor Kathy Griffiths, director of the Centre for Mental Health Research, Australian National University, kathy.griffiths@anu.edu.au or (02) 6125 9723.

Take the survey here. Participation is voluntary and you may withdraw from it at any time by closing your web browser. However, all collected data will be retained for analysis. The survey will take about 15 to 20 minutes to complete.
