Tasmanian community support grants
The Tasmanian Gaming Control Act 1993 provides for a percentage of the gross profits from video gaming machines in hotels and clubs to be paid into the Community Support Levy to go to charitable organisations. The Gambling Support Bureau within the Department of Health and Human Services administers the program.
Organisations eligible to apply for grants are charities or not-for-profit community groups whose dominant purpose is charitable, altruistic and for the benefit of the Tasmanian community. Preference will be given to those charitable organisations whose main focus is benevolent.
One off grants up to $3,000 are available for projects or activities that will further the charitable aims and objectives of the organisation. The funds may support the core business of the organisation and be for a specific purpose or equipment; and grants of up to $10,000 are available for non-core business projects and activities that will further the charitable aims and objectives of the organisation and that will maximise the well-being of the target population through addressing unmet needs, eliminating barriers and increasing the target population’s participation in mainstream community activities.
