Tasmania offers assistance to age at home
The Tasmanian Government has launched the HACC Home-based Independence Program (HHIP).
It is an independent living program to provide a short-term, home-based early intervention service for the elderly.
The approach is to provide the skills and equipment to live independently, with an emphasis on health and wellbeing.
Diminishing social isolation and empowering people to be independent are positive expected outcomes.
As well as boosting quality of life, it aims to reduce or delay the need for ongoing community care services, alleviating pressure on the system.
