Superwoman to female finance rescue
Best selling author, Kathy Lette, believes that it is time that older women began thinking more seriously themselves about long term wealth, retirement and planning their financial futures.
Now a non-executive director of Superwoman, a financial services company for women, Ms Lette said that many women, like herself, had never really tried to understand finance.
“We’ve been bamboozled into thinking it’s beyond us and, of course, it’s not”.
Superwoman’s research has shown that 40% of women over the age of 50 become single at some stage – either through divorce or being widowed – and have had to take control of their finances for the first time.
Ms Lette said that women “haven’t got time to read all those endless financial reports.
“We want something that’s succinct, to the point, and jargon free that we can access easily.
“A lot of banking jargon is so alienating that women have been intimidated by it”.
The Superwoman company staff consists of around 80% women and Kylie Grant, the general manager of the company’s financial solutions, claims that “women, once they get to know you, trust other women”.
