Style comes at any age
Style doesn’t go out of fashion the older you become – and a new British survey has proved this. About 1,000 British women aged 50 years and over were recently asked to name their style icon of all time and Oscar-winning actress, Helen Mirren, most famous for her portrayal of Elizabeth II in The Queen, came out on top.
Style doesn’t go out of fashion the older you become – and a new British survey has proved this.
About 1,000 British women aged 50 years and over were recently asked to name their style icon of all time and Oscar-winning actress, Helen Mirren, most famous for her portrayal of Elizabeth II in The Queen, came out on top, ahead of renowned model and face of the swinging sixties, Twiggy.
Australia’s very own songstress Kylie Minogue came in at number 12, while surprisingly supermodel Kate Moss was also popular among the over-50s.
While many listed their favourite icons, about 85% of the over-50s polled said they had their own style.
Zimbio website reported nine out of 10 women aged 50 years and over said they took pride in their appearance, with more than half claiming they never worried about “dressing inappropriately” for their age.
Nine out of 10 of the women also said they “dress for themselves”, with the majority admitting they had enjoyed shopping more the older they became.
Many of the women also said they were not afraid to “embrace younger styles”, with experts suggesting the results prove age really is no “barrier to style or confidence”.
“It’s inspiring to see many women over-50 more comfortable in their self and confident in their style to explore new clothing options,” they said.
