Slater & Gordon to run first legal challenge to govt’s aged care bond security act
A group of companies that owes $861,000 in accommodation bonds to relatives of Queenslanders with dementia has collapsed with debts of $3.7million.
But eight families fighting Lifecare Services Australia and three related entities are expected to get most or all of their money back from the Federal Government
in the first test of new laws to protect consumers.
Slater & Gordon lawyer, Ben Hardwick, has been retained by five relatives and he said a claim was sent to the Department of Health and Ageing earlier this month.
“I’m optimistic the money will be paid back as soon as possible,” Mr Hardwick said.
