Victoria Police is promoting safe pedestrian behaviour by encouraging pedestrians to take responsibility for their own safety by using crossings, obeying road rules and being aware of all road users.
There has been an increase in the number of pedestrian collisions involving serious injury or death in recent times throughout the state of Victoria. Especially vulnerable are those aged 60 years and older.
Victoria Police has prepared a Pedestrian Safety information sheet targeting seniors to increase awareness of pedestrian safety.
VicRoads has also developed a ‘Walk with Care’ brochure, which is available at http://www.vicroads.vic.gov.au
