Seniors spokespersons on Abbott’s frontbench

Strong Tony Abbott supporter and former Coalition Minister for Aged Care, Bronwyn Bishop, returns to Tony Abbott’s front bench in a new position as Shadow Minister for Seniors.
She was John Howard’s Minister for Aged Care at the time of the so-called ‘kerosene baths’ affair when she closed Riverside, a Melbourne nursing home which had bathed residents in kerosene following a scabies outbreak.
In appointing her as Seniors spokeswoman in the outer shadow Ministry, Tony Abbott has praised the energy of Mrs Bishop who, aged 67 years, “will be one of them as someone who is working for them.”
Senator Concetta Fierravanti-Wells, from New South Wales, has been appointed as Shadow Minister for Ageing. She has been described by the Sydney Morning Herald as an Abbott plot supporter who has also been rewarded with a place in the outer Shadow Ministry.
