Seniors say g’day to country music
Private aged care provider, Tall Trees Caboolture, is hosting a country themed day with music and activities for local seniors tomorrow. The country music event will start with a high tea, the duo Joy and Pain will be singing songs from the era of the iconic Slim Dusty, followed by a barbecue lunch and sweets.

The country music event will start with a high tea, the duo Joy and Pain will be singing songs from the era of the iconic Slim Dusty, followed by a barbecue lunch and sweets.
Tall Trees lifestyle coordinator, Kerri Stockham, says the music performance put on for residents and guests will have everyone up and dancing.
“We’d been telling everyone in the area to get their dancing boots on and join us, and the tickets sold out almost four weeks before the event,” Ms Stockham says.
About 100 people had already booked a seat by the start of this month – just one week after invitations were sent to members of the community.
Seniors from the local RSL Day Therapy Centre and Blue Care will be joining the Tall Trees residents and their families and friends for the music event. Staff from U3A will also be line dancing for the guests.
Ms Stockham says Tall Trees Caboolture arranges events for their residents and the wider community to instil a greater sense of happiness and wellbeing within seniors.
“Uniting our residents with their peers in the local area is a great opportunity for them to make new friends,” she says.
“We’ve been using popular music themes for each event because the genres are adored by their generation and it’s a really fun way for them to have more social interaction.”
Ms Stockham adds they’ve decided to continue organising regular music events after two very successful community functions last year celebrating the music of the 1940s and 1950s.
“Our first attempt was a 1950s themed day where we had over 80 people attend. Next was a 1940s music event that exceeded 100 guests, which were more people than we expected so we brought in tables from outside to make sure nobody missed out.”
