Australian aged care provider, Feros Care, is helping to change the face of ageing with its Snap a Selfie photo competition, as part of the organisation’s ongoing Get Bold Not Old campaign.

This campaign targets people 70 years and older to share pictures of themselves being 'bold' – not old.

Feros Care chief executive, Jennene Buckley, says the organisation is committed to breaking down the traditional stereotypes of growing older and creating a more positive image of ageing.

“We want to connect with the public in a fun creative way to help fight ageism and to highlight the fact that when people reach 70 years of age, there is significant scope to set new life goals to continue to learn, create, achieve, love, enjoy and to live life to the fullest,” Ms Buckley says.

“Sharing memories and photos is now easier than ever through social media – and seniors are embracing social media and taking advantage of the family and friendship connections it can provide,” she says.

The competition will run until 31 August 2015, and people can enter more than once. The entries will be judged by a Feros Care panel and the best 'bold not old' photo will win a $1,000 Red Balloon adventure voucher.

To participate, Snap-a-selfie or post-a-pic to your Facebook, Twitter or Instagram using the hashtag #GetBoldNotOld-2015 or upload photos directly onto the Feros Competition webpage where all of the entries will be displayed.

Not over 70 years old but want to enter? Simply ask your family or friends whom are aged over 70 years old if you can snap and submit their Get Bold Not Old image. Please note: permission/consent must be given in order to submit their image.
