Sandwich generation carers wanted for survey now!
Kiah Evans, a researcher at Edith Cowan University in Western Australia (WA) is looking for answers from her research on women who juggle work and carer commitments.
These “Sandwich Generation” women have a lot to contribute when thinking about the role of carers in the future and so finding participants is vital. But be quick as the participation needs to take place this year.
This research will lead to recommendations to help women more effectively balance the three roles of worker, mother and parental carer. In addition to this benefit to the community, women participating in the pilot study found the research process personally beneficial.
One woman who completed the pilot study stated, “I think it came at a time that I was feeling pretty low and not very useful…and then when I did the time diary and realised just how many things were going on at the same time, I was actually managing quite a lot and using time quite effectively. And I think it helped put things into perspective for me as well. So I found it a very useful exercise for me actually”.
