SA aged care leader receives AM in Queen’s Birthday Awards

SA’s Helping Hand chief executive officer, Ian Hardy, has been appointed a Member of the Order of Australia (AO) in the Queen’s Birthday Honours.

The AM was awarded “for service to the community, particularly in the area of aged care as a leading contributor to the development of better services.”

The citation notes that “Under Mr Hardy’s leadership, Helping Hand has developed a reputation for innovation, piloting the first ‘ageing-in-place’ residential facility in Australia.

The organisation has also developed new programs in the areas of rehabilitation, hospital avoidance, mental health and social support services for older people.”

Mr Hardy has been a member of numerous government advisory forums and a frequent speaker at aged care and health conferences in Australia and overseas.

He currently sits on the Australian Government’s Community Care Ministerial Advisory Committee.
