Rush to join Retirement Villages’ organisation
There has been a surge of retirement village operators lodging applications to become accredited with the sector’s peak industry group.
About half of all retirement villages nationwide are members of the Retirement Village Association. Of those, about 50% are accredited members – meaning they have undergone an assessment process to ensure their facilities and services meet a certain standard.
Association chief executive officer, Kate Hamond, says the group has seen an “enormous swell in applications” in recent months and believes 75% of member villages will have their accreditation by the end of 2007.
