Royal Hobart Hospital opens stroke unit
TAS Health Minister Lara Giddings says Tasmania is the first state to have dedicated stroke units in all public hospitals after opening a new eight-bed acute stroke unit at Royal Hobart Hospital.
Ms Giddings said the specially equipped unit would be staffed by medical, nursing and allied health professionals with specialist skills and expertise in the treatment and care of stroke patients. The team is headed by Medical Director Dr David Dunbabin.
