Recognition for outstanding service

Churches of Christ in Queensland has recognised the committed and faithful work of staff and volunteers at their annual gala Awards Dinner.

Churches of Christ in Queensland hosted 425 staff, volunteers and members of their community for the event at Brisbane City Hall’s spectacular main auditorium.

Dean Phelan, Churches of Christ in Queensland chief executive, invited award nominees and staff who were being recognised for years of service and special recognition awards.

“The awards dinner, as part of our 'Celebrate' weekend, is our opportunity to thank staff and volunteers for their exceptional service, which enables us to care for our community,” Mr Phelan says.

Winners of the Excellence in Service Awards, the Chief Executive Officer’s Special Recognition Awards and the Beryl Wiltshire Scholarship were announced on the night. Years of service milestones were also celebrated.

“Across the organisation, including Churches of Christ Care, staff and volunteers have been inspiring us to continue to deliver the work we do and reach further into the community.

“We have staff who have been with us for almost 40 years and volunteers who have given 35 years to helping others. “Staff have achieved amazing feats for the organisation and shown spirit, determination and grit as they shared our values and inspired us to continue to help those in need.”

“The Excellence in Service Awards is an opportunity to express gratitude to, and recognise individuals whose commitment to bringing the light of Christ into communities is evidenced through their outstanding performance in their role and demonstrating our values in action.

“I would like to specifically acknowledge Judith Moffatt from Churches of Christ Care Fassifern Aged Care Service who has worked with the organisation for 38 years, and volunteers, Patricia Phillips at Fair Haven Aged Care Service in Maryborough and Flora Roberts from Fassifern Aged Care Service, who have each given 35 years to helping residents. Their commitment is greatly appreciated and we are inspired by their work.”

The Awards Dinner was part of Churches of Christ in Queensland’s annual Celebrate weekend, featuring three key events at Brisbane City Hall: Centrifuge Conference, the Annual General Meeting and the Awards Dinner.
