Rate your doctor online

Australians will be able to rate their doctors on issues such as knowledge and helpfulness through a new website which has just gone online.

The site is www.RateMDs.com and founder John Swapceinski said the site was now ready to take ratings on doctors in Australia and New Zealand.

Patients can rate their doctors out of five for punctuality, overall quality, knowledge, and helpfulness as well as provide a short comment of their own choice.

Mr Swapceinski said that good doctors should not be worried about bad reviews but the Australian Medical Association has said that it could lead to doctors leaving the profession.

In the US some of the 270,00 doctors rated on the site earlier have sued patients for libel after having being called awful, negligent, or unethical.
