Queensland Premier welcomes election outcome
Queensland Premier, Anna Bligh, has congratulated Julia Gillard on reaching a historic agreement to form the Federal Government as the country’s first elected female Prime Minister.
“This has been an unprecedented time in our history and the Australian public should be thanked for its patience and trust in the process that has lead to this conclusion,” Ms Bligh said.
Ms Bligh said it was a historic day for Australia and the agreement reached with the Independents would give the country a stable and strong Government.
“At the end of the day, the right decision has been reached for the nation and I congratulate Julia and my Federal colleagues.
“Leading a minority government will have its challenges and I’m confident that Julia Gillard is up to the task,” she said.
