Queensland health action plan to cope with ageing population
Improving the quality and safety of public health services remains the key focus of the Queensland government’s $10 billion Health Action Plan, Health Minister, Stephen Robertson, says.
“As the population grows and ages, and as more people develop chronic disease, there will be an ever-increasing demand for safe and sustainable public health services,” he says.
He cites more health professionals and health workers, more hospital beds and a massive hospital public works program as proof of the government’s commitment.
”A sustainable health system is also about encouraging Queenslanders to adopt healthy lifestyles to reduce their risk of preventable chronic disease and need for acute hospital services.
“In meeting the challenges ahead, Queensland Health will increase its focus on disease prevention, better management of chronic diseases, and provision of primary health care services in the community.”
