Quality use of medicines campaign for Chinese & Italian seniors

Since 2004,  the Federation of Ethnic Community Councils of Australia (FECCA), and the National Prescribing Service (NPS), have been working together to promote safe and appropriate use of medicines to multicultural communities.

From September to December 2008, a campaign will be running with Chinese and Italian speaking seniors regarding:

  • The risks and benefits of medicine use; and
  • How to minimise risks and use medicines safely.

The campaign will utilise radio advertising and interviews, print media, health information resources and education seminars through ethno-specific organisations, to share these important messages.

The campaign is urging  bi-lingual health professionals to assist, by presenting on radio, leading a health education seminar, or writing an article for a local newspaper or magazine, and by  disseminating translated health information resources through organisations and networks.

Information resources include a list to keep information on medicines and booklets on how to use medicines safely.
