Qld study on how councils can communicate better with seniors
A new study is looking at ways local councils can communicate better with seniors. According to University of Queensland researcher Andrea Petriwskyj, many older people want to have their say about issues in their local communities.
“Sometimes councils find it difficult to know how to reach some seniors,” she said.
Ms Petriwskyj will study the involvement of seniors in local government activities such as consultation, decision-making and community projects.
It will explore people’s motivations for being involved and identify barriers to seniors becoming involved to help create solutions.
The study is being run in partnership with the Ipswich and Gold Coast City Councils.
