Qld nursing home firms boycott Govt bed subsidy
Queensland based TriCare, Blue Care, RSL Care and Queensland Baptist Care, which between them cover 10,000 beds, have told the Government they will boycott the forthcoming round of bed allocation applications.
They are doing so, because they say the Government subsidies have not kept pace with building and wages costs, and they could not justify an investment in new nursing home beds.
In a report in The Australian, TriCare chief executive officer (CEO), Jim Toohey, said that “in the next few years you might find a shortage of beds.”
