Qld hospital outpatients’ services not coping
Queensland’s public health system is under the spotlight with specialist outpatient’s services exposed as unable to cope with patient demand.
The State government asked Professor Ken Donald to investigate why 140,000 Queenslanders are waiting to see a specialist.
His findings have startled Queensland Health Minister Stephen Robertson, who has revealed some patient files were marked “never to be seen”.
“This is unacceptable and will change,” he said.
He has pledged another $20 million a year to the area, hoping to cut waiting lists by 20,000 people.
