Protecting older people with dementia from SCAMS, especially in WA
Due to an increase in Scam reports in society generally, Alzheimer’s Australia WA decided it wanted to research scams to quantify the amount and type of scams that are actually targeting elderly people, and in particular, those with dementia.
The SCAM Education Research Project is up and running.
All aged care service providers, including businesses, health professionals, carers, care workers, residential facilities, family members, universities, Alzheimer’s Australia WA staff and management, are being asked to share their SCAM experience for this important research project.
This can be done by contacting the Scam Education Research Project manager, Anthony Ward at Alzheimer’s Australia WA at anthony.ward@alzheimers.asn.au.
When complete, the research will be published on the Internet and widely distributed as a service to the aged care community. A ‘Scam Education Kit’ will also be produced based on the SCAM Education Research Report and made available to aged care service providers in WA initially.
