Prostate cancer mortality rates in SA
A new comprehensive study has revealed a dramatic decline in the prostate cancer mortality rate in South Australia.
The study looked at prostate cancer trends in South Australia over the past 30 years.
SA Health Minister John Hill said the research from Health and Prostate SA found the death rate had declined by 22% in the past 10 years.
The research found that up to 88% of those diagnosed will survive more than five years after diagnosis.
The highest rates of diagnosis were among men aged 80 plus, while the lowest were found for men under 50.
