PresCare expands mobility aid service

Queensland aged care provide PresCare is expanding into New South Wales with the purchase of a mobility supplies retailer.

The acquisition of Awsum Assistive Technology Group includes stores in Warners Bay and Orange and will expand PresCare’s existing mobility business.

PresCare currently has 13 Walk on Wheels branded stores owned or licensed by PresCare throughout Queensland.

The purchase includes two stores, one in Warners Bay (Lake Macquarie) and one in Orange, both currently operating under the name Comfort and Mobility.

PresCare Group chief executive officer Greg Skelton says that the acquisition of Awsum Assistive Technology Group will see PresCare further expand its retail and wholesale presence in the mobility field.

“The mobility industry in Australia is currently a $507 million a year industry, with Queensland and New South Wales accounting for 44 per cent of sales,” according to Mr Skelton.

“The mobility industry will grow at 3.1 per cent for the next five years.

“With the number of Australians over 70 increasing at double the rate of the general population, growing our mobility business makes commercial sense for the PresCare Group,” he says.

The expansion will provide synergies between PresCare’s allied health professionals and its existing Walk on Wheels mobility business.

“PresCare is focused on delivering connected care to seniors across Queensland, and now into New South Wales, and these acquisitions are helping us achieve our goals,” Mr Skelton says.
