Prepare yourself for summer

The Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS) has warned Australians about the dangers of heat related illness this summer.

They advise those living in, or planning to holiday in an area susceptible to heatwaves, to take precautions , including:

· Alcohol and coffee can lead to dehydration, meaning extra water should be consumed.
· Avoid the sun and use air conditioners and fans are crucial steps to prevent heat related illness.

As elderly people are especially susceptible to heat, QAS has reminded everyone to check on their elderly neighbours during hot weather.
