Plea for funds from Victorians

St John Victoria

St John Victoria

St John Ambulance in Victoria is lodging an unprecedented call for funds to help maintain services across the state.

The company has instituted a St John Week, beginning 5 October, and will start promotions to raise funds. It currently receives less than 1% of its funds from the government although the company is included in every government disaster plan.

In Victoria, St John workers are a welcome presence at major sporting events and are out at over 250 events each weekend. They are buckling under increased demand for their services, declining funding sources and increasing costs for insurance to cover their work, volunteer staff, and equipment.
