Play like you’ve got nothing to lose

Aged care provider, Life Care, has won the South Australia and Northern Territory Aged & Community Services (ACS) Excellence Award for portrayal of older people in the media through its recent ‘Live every day’ campaign and rebranding.

“Whilst it’s people who motivate us rather than awards, this one is significant to Life Care, because we believe it’s only by changing the way older people are viewed in the community that will affect how they are treated by the community,” Lyn Polley, Life Care business development executive, said.

The ACS Awards are presented to dynamic individuals and organisations for their exceptional contribution to residential and community care.

In 2010, for the first time, all state winners – including Life Care – will be contenders for the national awards for excellence to be held in Hobart in September.

“The organisation’s fundamental goal is to help people live their lives to their potential as they age, and our new catch-cry ‘Live every day’ is a constant reminder of that to every individual we come in contact with, no matter whether that’s our staff, volunteers, residents, clients and their families, or suppliers.”

The ‘Live every day’ communications campaign exhorts older people to dance like no one is watching, sing like no one is listening, love like they’ll never get hurt and play like they’ve got nothing to lose.
