Perfect score for Feros Care
Feros Care residential aged care facilities received a perfect score by auditors during recent accreditations by the Australian Aged Care Quality Agency.
Feros Care Byron Bay residents are encouraged to take dignified risks and enjoy life.
Feros Care Village Byron Bay and Feros Care Village Bangalow were put under the spotlight as part of the Federal Government’s Mandatory Accreditation Process, to ensure the quality of care and services delivered to residents comply with the requirements of the Accreditation Standards.
Staff, volunteers and residents of the villages participated in the audit process, sharing with the auditors the unique positive living program at the villages. The audit process highlighted how the village staff focus on assisting residents to stay strong and active, and to help them continue to be involved with their families, friends, the broader community, and to simply enjoy life.
Over four days both villages were reviewed and auditors recommended that both receive a full three year accreditation.
Auditors noted they were impressed with the work Feros Care is doing and said “Feros Care residents know they live somewhere special….we couldn’t find any opportunities for improvement… what a pleasure it was to come to the home and see Feros Care in action!”
Feros Care CEO Ms Jennene Buckley says the villages strive to be a community hub, and residents actively participate in and enjoy village life. She congratulated the residential leadership team, staff, volunteers and residents for their integral role in this outstanding result.
“I am immensely proud of our residential staff and volunteer teams. Their passion for aged care and their commitment to creating opportunities for each and every resident to live life to the fullest, to allow our residents to be themselves and look for the things that make our residents want to jump out of bed each day and enjoy life.
“They shine on a day-to-day basis, however it is wonderful to have this formally acknowledged in the Federal Government’s accreditation process,” she says.
Key highlights for the auditors include Feros Care’s robust systems and process that are in place, the staff’s approach in encouraging “dignified risk taking” for its residents and Feros Care’s use of the robot “Wheel-I-am” that links less mobile residents to activities in the community.
Ms Buckley says: “I am humbled by the abundance of positive feedback from residents who talked about their extended family and the staff that make the villages so special.
“The auditors said at the visit that many of the residents proudly showed off their home, and expressed their satisfaction with the care and support they receive. They spoke about the friendships they have formed and the opportunities they enjoy in being part of the village and the wider community.
“It shows the level of trust the residents and their families have and it is a credit to our dedicated staff and managers who work at our Byron Bay and Bangalow villages,” Ms Buckley says.
