People at Centre Stage: Rewriting Community Aged Care project
On 4 March at 11am, Mike Woods, deputy chairman of the Productivity Commission, will launch the People at Centre Stage: Rewriting Community Aged Care project at the Knox Community Arts Centre.
The new project seeks to develop, test and pilot a model of personalised consumer-directed care for older people living in the community.
The launch will include special guest Evelyn Krape, an actress with over 30 years of experience working in theatre, film and television, and numerous awards to her name.
Members of the public have been invited to attend the launch of the project and at the public seminar in the afternoon.
The seminar will provide detailed information about consumer-directed care, including first-hand experiences from a family that has been involved with consumer-directed care for a family member with a disability. It will also discuss how to achieve more control within the current community care system.
A focus group will be part of the seminar to seek feedback from participants about visions for the community care system.
The seminar runs from 1pm to 4pm and afternoon tea will be provided. It is free for older people and their families.
