Paul Newman offers money for ‘unsung heroes’
Legendary film actor and director, Paul Newman, is offering Australian charities the opportunity to apply for grants from his charitable foundation for their unsung heroes.
Established after the success of his salad dressing (then pasta and salsa) business in the US in 1980, which donated all profits ($200 million to date) to charity, Newman’s Own Foundation in Australia and New Zealand also supports charities with selfless helpers who don’t always get due recognition from the public or charitable foundations at grant giving time.
The Australian arm of the foundation has already given $9 million to Australian charities.
Individual grants of up to $50,000 will be made to Australian charities. Anyone can nominate an unsung hero working for a charity – either in a voluntary or paid capacity, and then the charity must endorse the application and send it to the foundation for consideration.
Applications close on 31 May, and all information including the application form is on the website – www.paulnewmansown.com.au
