Parliamentary inquiry – older people and the law
The House of Representatives Legal and Constitutional Committee is to enquire into older people and the law. Fraud, financial abuse, general and enduring power of attorney provisions, family agreements, discrimination, and barriers to older Australians accessing legal services are the specific issues the Committee will examine.
The focus will be on people aged 65 years and over, and the Committee will look at experiences in other countries as well as taking submissions from Australian individuals and organisations.
Everyone interested in commenting or making a submission is invited to contact the Committee Secretary by 1 December.
