Livewire has launched an online community to support parents and carers of people living with a serious illness, chronic health condition or disability.
Livewire, a wholly owned subsidiary of the Starlight Children’s Foundation, has launched Livewire Parents, a new online community, where parents and carers of someone with a serious illness, chronic health condition or disability can connect with one another in a supportive and understanding environment.
Livewire Parents (http://www.parents.livewire.org.au) is a place for parents and carers to meet, share experiences with people who understand what they are going through, find relevant information and gain support from one another.
There are approximately 500,000 parents and primary carers of people with a serious illness, chronic health condition or disability.
Many parents and carers struggle to cope and suffer a huge emotional burden and physical and financial stress. As a result, parents and carers have the lowest health and wellbeing of any group in society.
