Older Internet users on the rise
The biggest rise in internet users in developed nations is amongst people over 70 with 45% online in 2008 in the United States compared with 26% in 2005.
Scottish professor Vicki Hanson told a recent global World Wide Web conference in Madrid that “older adults are the fastest growing demographic on the Internet”.
However older users are less likely than younger ones to bank and shop on-line and far less likely to use social networking sites, the conference was told.
