October 1 National Day for older Australians
The National Day for Older Australians was celebrated around Australia on Sunday, 1 October to pay tribute to those people who, in the words of the Federal Minister for Ageing, Senator Santoro, “have forged our nation and made it what it is today, and who continue to be role models for the younger generations”.
Senator Santoro was in Goondiwindi, Queensland to launch a calendar ‘Still Inspiring’ produced by the Department of Health and Ageing.
It celebrates the achievements of older Australians and features the stories of 12 inspiring older Australians who continue to make enormous contributions to their communities and to the nation at large, through their careers and volunteer activities.
Copies of the calendar can be ordered by phoning 1800 500 853.
