NT home receives Hollywood legend paintings
Marilyn Monroe painting
Portraits of Hollywood legends of yesteryear, Bing Crosby, Grace Kelly, Marilyn Monroe and Frank Sinatra are going to be used to bring enjoyment to residents suffering from dementia, at Masonic Homes’ Tiwi Gardens Lodge in the Northern Territory.
The portraits have been painted by a group of Year 11 students from Darwin High School, which has been working on the project since March. It started as a competition between the students and finished with the completion of some inspiring paintings.
Other portraits of “stars of bygone eras” include Elvis Presley, The Beatles, Julie Andrews and Audrey Hepburn.
The paintings were officially handed over to Masonic Homes at a presentation at Tiwi Gardens Lodge by a Darwin High School delegation including the Principal, teachers and students.
“The portraits really need to be seen to be believed – they are fantastic,” Masonic Homes regional manager NT, Malcolm Johnstone, said.
“Our residents are really going to enjoy having these bright and memorable portraits around, to inspire some positive and happy memories.”
