NSW south coast nursing home wins mental health award
A NSW far south coast retirement home has been recognised for its contribution to improving the mental health of its residents.
Pambula’s Imlay House has been named a runner up in the New South Wales Aged Care Awards for a program that promotes positive mental health for residents.
State Mental Health Minister, Paul Lynch, says the aged care facility is breaking new ground in caring for the elderly.
“What we are trying to do is encourage programs that improve the mental health and wellbeing of residents in aged care facilities,” he said.
“Imlay House has a program called ‘Grow old with me, the best is yet to be’.
“It is part of a state wide and indeed, a community wide reassessment of the resources and the interest that goes into mental illness.”
