NSW mobility parking scheme problems
The Physical Disability Council of NSW has called on the NSW Government, through the Road Traffic Authority to immediately improve the Mobility Parking Scheme (MPS) by:
· Recognising the permanent nature of many disabilities by asking for a “once only” medical proof of disability
· Linking the renewal of a driver’s licence with the renewal of an Mobility Parking Authority (MPA), for the majority of MPA holders who also hold a NSW driver’s licence
· Redefining “unable to walk” so as to enable those who choose or are able to walk but who have life-long or permanent disabilities such as MS, Cerebral Palsy, Bi-lateral lower limb amputations and whose ability to walk will vary from time to time have access to the scheme.
