NSW govt plans to transfer ownership of public properties
Aged and Community Services (ACS) New South Wales (NSW) & Australian Capital Territory (ACT) has reminded its members that the NSW state government is to transfer up to 7,000 Commonwealth and state owned properties to community housing providers over the next three years.
ACS says this represents a significant opportunity for its members who are Community Housing providers or thinking about becoming so, as they could apply to take on these Housing NSW units.
This is the expansion area that has been talked about and now is a reality. By transferring ownership, this will also allow providers to leverage against these properties to build more community housing.
The transfer will be made up of current properties and those to be delivered through the Nation Building Economic Stimulus Plan.
