NSW Community Health Review Consultation

Posted
by DPS

NSW Health has engaged consultants from the Centre for Health Service Development at the University of Wollongong to undertake a review of NSW health operated community health services.

The consultants are in the process of meeting with a wide range of stakeholders, including holding a focus group with ACS community care providers.

It was noted that investment in community health has declined relative to overall spending in NSW.

Despite declining relative investment, consultation to date suggests that  community health is still expected to be all things to all people.

There is increasing evidence collected through the review that there is a growing mismatch between NSW community health policy (where the priority is on prevention and early intervention) and NSW practice (where the priority is on short term hospital demand management).

See more detail about the review, the consultations and read the bulletins, see the submissions received and make a submission yourself, add a contribution to the debate, and give examples of best practice on the blog, and see literature and useful links as they build up on the website:
