New South Wales (NSW) residents over the age of 65 are being encouraged with stamp duty exemptions to sell their existing home.
The $10 million allocated in the budget for the seniors’ stamp duty exemption would assist 444 buyers in the next financial year.
For two years from 1 July, seniors who buy a newly constructed home worth up to $600,000 will also pay no stamp duty, saving a potential $22,490.
The benefit will apply to people over 65 who sell their primary place of residence and move into a home that is under any stage of construction.
