Northern Territory’s New Concession Card

The Northern Territory Government has introduced new concessions for carers who receive the Commonwealth Carer Allowance. In what may be a world first, carers in NT will now be able to access a card through the new Northern Territory Pensioner and Carer Concession Scheme that allows savings on a range of services including electricity, drivers’ licences and some recreational activities.

The Territory Government has committed more than a million dollars to the concession scheme which came into effect on 1 July in recognition of the demands placed on carers and the contribution they make to the community. The discounts could be worth up to $750 a year for some carers.
