Nominations open for young carers’ awards
Recognising exceptional young Western Australians aged between 10 and 18 years providing voluntary care to others, nominations are now open for the Young People Who Care Awards 2010.
Presented by Silver Chain, Carers Western Australia (WA) and Woodside Energy, categories include the Caring in the Community Award, Young Carer Award and Caring Together Award.
“Nominating someone for the Young People Who Care Awards enables us all to recognise the commitment it takes to be a carer and the significant, ongoing contribution these young people make to their families, friends and to our community,” says Chris McGowan, Silver Chain chief executive officer.
The awards are a unique opportunity to recognise and acknowledge over 40,000 carers in WA.
“The Young People Who Care Awards raises awareness of a relatively unrecognised group in our community and highlights some of the challenges these young people face,” said Paul Coates, Carers WA chief executive officer.
For more information, contact Silver Chain on (08) 9242 0242 or Carers WA 1300 227 377 or nominate at http://youngpeoplewhocare.com.au
Award finalists will be invited to attend a special ceremony at Parliament House in September.
Nominations close 20 August.
