Nomination call for senior of the year awards
Victorians are encouraged to nominate inspirational volunteers for the 2014 Victorian Senior of the Year awards. The awards celebrate the extraordinary contributions of senior volunteers in Victoria.

Victorian Minister for Health, David Davis, says the awards celebrate the many volunteers, aged 60 years and over, who support and inspire others.
“They might be a friend, family member or a neighbour in your local community,” Minister Davis says.
Previous winners were recognised for providing comfort to hospital patients, being a mainstay of ANZAC Day Appeals, providing tutoring and financial support to disadvantaged students, and organising social opportunities for older members of Victoria’s multicultural communities.
Last year, Geelong volunteer Pat Smith was named Victorian Senior of the Year as she was honoured for pastoral care and support to vulnerable people, coordination of emergency relief support and for establishing the Education Assistance Program for vulnerable students.
Categories for the awards include:
- Premier’s Award for Victorian Senior of the Year
- Veteran Community Award
- Promotion of Multiculturalism Award
- Healthy and Active Living Award
- Council on the Ageing (COTA) Victoria Senior Achiever Awards
Nominations are now open and will close on 11 July 2014.
Winners will be acknowledged at a special Government House reception on 2 October 2014, leading into this year’s Victorian Seniors Festival.
