No countrylink rail booking fee for seniors
New South Wales pensioners have welcomed the state government’s decision to drop the Countrylink booking fee for free travel. National Seniors Australia senior policy adviser, Paul Versteege, said it was about time the booking fee was scrapped.
“Pensioners are entitled to four free single fares on Countrylink a year. A significant booking fee was imposed a few years ago, which reduced pensioner patronage by 25%,” Mr Versteege said.
“This decision has now been reversed and National Seniors congratulates Mr Rees on this display of good sense”.
