New Victorian dementia care initiatives

The Victorian Government has announced almost $400,000 for new initiatives to support people with dementia, making an increase in state dementia services spending of $1.2 million this year.
The extra funding for new initiatives to support those with dementia includes:
· $250,000 for the Support for Carers of People with Dementia Program, which provides support not available through other services;
· $100,000 in new funds to train tai chi instructors to teach the slow motion exercise to people with dementia, their families and carers; and
. $40,000 to the Caulfield Cognitive Dementia and Memory Service clinic for a training course in early diagnosis and assessment of dementia.
